Water tower financials

After the township CAO Rhonda Bunn informed council that the Colgan water tower (standpipe) was proceeding and there would be no maintenance costs for 50 years, I emailed the CAO asking for financials as the financials could affect the township water users water rates and any approvals had to be in accordance with the Land Tribunal Decision. I was also surprised that a water tower will not require any maintenance for 50 years. The CAO informed me that Springwater Township in Simcoe County also has a similar water tower. I contacted the Mayor of Springwater as he was also on Simcoe County Council and asked for his help with the financials (maintenance costs). The Mayor of Springwater Township asked his Public works staff to reply to my email with the Financials. Springwater public works staff replied to my email with the detailed costs for maintenance of the water tower which is in the email link below. This confirmed my doubt that the staff were again providing financial misinformation that there are no costs for maintenance for 50 years. This was now the third time that staff were providing misinformation to council (the first was with the illegal appointment of the engineers, then with changing the legally binding draft plan conditions without permission from the Tribunal and now misleading financials for the water tower maintenance) and the 4 councillors Annette Bays, Deborah Hall aka Deborah Hall Chancey, Scott Anderson and Jonathan Pita were blindly approving reports and projects without financials and then accused Bob Meadows and myself for providing false information. It is these types of financial irresponsible actions of the above 4 named councillors that keeps resulting in the water debt increasing and high water rates.

Based on the financials in the attached email, the total capital cost maintenance in 50 years not taking annual costs increase is $587,500. Divide $587,500 by 50 years is $11,750 per year. This $11,750 does not include the cost for OCWA maintaining the water system and inflation.

The below email was sent to the CAO Rhonda Bunn and all on council (adjtos council) so all were fully aware of the financial problems but they turned a blind eye to all the concerns Bob Meadow’s and I (Floyd Pinto) raised and approved all the reports without detailed costing. Now all the residents in the township are left with this mess.
